For this landscape watercolour painting, I followed Kirsty Partridge Art’s YouTube tutorial Watercolor Woods LANDSCAPE Painting Tutorial for Beginners. It was simple, easy to follow and I’m very happy with the result!
It involves a lot of wet on wet for the background, and the use of a sponge for the tree leaves, layering up lots of different greens. I’m thrilled with how the two main trees turned out – adding a little white into them really made a difference.
Next time I’d leave space between my trees for the light to shine through – that would have made the painting richer. I’d also love to try this again on a bigger piece of paper and with smaller brushes – I did this on A5 and it made it hard to get the detailing right on the fence.
